A Briefing Episode

"Reckoning" spends most of its running time in meetings. Danny is discharged, travels to the IAA, and meets Miles Kerrigan, who walks the team through the decrypted evidence. Then they plan. Then they plan again. Ace finally appears to introduce herself and confirm what we already suspected: her brother is alive, but not for long. Some of this is useful. Miles is introduced efficiently, and Ace makes an immediate impression with her sharp tongue and backhanded compliments ("not very quick, but a solid detective"). The note left on Danny's ransacked desk, warning that digging into the past can bury you, is a strong, unsettling beat. But very little of what the episode sets up pays off. The infiltration plan for Stratton's closed briefing is never used. The anonymous informant's tip about the archive building goes nowhere. The note and the footprint in Danny's office are dropped. The decryption tool simply arrives from Ace at the right moment. It works as connective tissue, but the season pauses here.

The Team Comes Together

“Reckoning” functions primarily as the assembly point for the season’s endgame. Danny leaves the hospital and is brought into a much more organized operation involving Lara, Hüseyin and the newly introduced Miles Kerrigan. Miles immediately fills a useful role within the ensemble: she is not another investigator doing Danny’s job, but a specialist capable of interpreting the digital and financial evidence that has become increasingly important to the Stratton case. The strongest part of the episode is the sense that the characters are finally beginning to understand the structure they are fighting. Financial records, manipulated identities, municipal contracts and data connected to the real Altar Ian start becoming parts of the same operation. Danny returning to his office and discovering that someone has searched it also prevents the episode from becoming entirely a briefing session. Ace’s eventual appearance gives the group another distinct personality and helps move the season from investigation toward action. However, the episode is extremely setup-heavy. Much of the dialogue consists of characters explaining evidence, strategy or what the next stage of the operation will involve. The opening also contains some repetitive information about the encrypted USB, which makes the construction feel less polished than the material deserves. Still, “Reckoning” succeeds at its main purpose: by the end, Pursuing Evidence has assembled the team that will carry the season into its finale.

Gathering at Delphora

Discharged from the hospital and immediately whisked away to Delphora, Danny Taylor steps into a proper war room where the fractured resistance finally crystallizes into an organized unit. The breakthrough arrives thanks to a covert delivery from Ace, who provides the exact decryptor tool needed to unlock the hidden sectors on the retrieved USB drive. Introducing Miles Kerrigan, a specialist in digital tracing and institutional rot, adds sharp procedural weight to the narrative. Sifting through the decrypted contents reveals the true scale of Markus Stratton’s takeover. The files expose bogus campaign donations routed through offshore dummy accounts, municipal contracts signed by the fake mayor, and energy telemetry pointing toward a secluded compound roughly three hours outside Super Seed where the real Altar Ian is likely being held. The episode excels at shifting the stakes from reactive survival to proactive counterattack. The team formulates a high risk strategy targeting Stratton’s private briefing at the Superseed Cultural Center, aiming for the unmonitored prep room before he takes the podium. Ace finally arrives in person to face Danny, bringing a sharp, pragmatic tension that cuts through any illusions of heroism. With an inside informant warning that Stratton is already at the old municipal archive purging records and planning Altar’s imminent execution, the clock ticks louder than ever. It is a tightly wound, compelling setup that pushes the pieces into position for an all out strike.
